Getting Older Isn’t Easy, How Do I Embrace The Changes?

As we age and we find ourselves surviving the ego-centricity of youth, we emerge armed with experience and knowledge, but perhaps questions arise about how our goals should evolve with us.

  • Embrace the mind – Our thoughts are our gifts. Treasure them by nurturing them.
  • Embrace the body – The aging journey certainly takes our bodies to new places. Understanding limitations and abilities at every stage is important and can help you recognize the need for exercise, nourishing foods and health monitoring.
  • Embrace the spirit – Our spirits also evolve over the years. What do you believe in? What is your purpose? Who is important to you? The answers to these questions evolve with time, getting sweeter as the years go by.

How Can I Manage Stress On The Aging Journey?

Mindfulness is a way of thinking that brings thoughts not to the future or to the past, but instead to the present moment. Mindfulness has a variety of positive benefits including decrease in stress, reduced markers for inflammation (risk factors for cancer and heart disease), improved sleeping habits, reductions in memory and an overall decrease in loneliness. You can add mindfulness to your daily life by taking a few long, deep breaths throughout the day; making time for prayer and meditation; and stretching to help bring awareness to your physical body. With a few simple techniques, you can make mindfulness part of your healthy aging journey and help prevent stress.
