GENERAL MEETING – Wachiska Audubon will present a free public program at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 13, at the Unitarian Church, 6400 A Street. David Harwood will speak about Antarctic exploration, climate changes, and penguins. Harwood has visited Antarctica more than 10 times and served as lead scientist on the international ANDRILL Program. His class “Frontiers of Antarctic Geoscience” is popular with students at the University of Nebraska. For further information, contact the Wachiska office at 402-486-4846.

FIELD TRIP – Go with Wachiska Audubon on a field trip to Stephens State Forest Thousand Acres Unit south of Des Moines. Target birds will be Prairie Warbler, Yellow-breasted Chat, Pine Warbler, and Blue-winged Warblers.

Meet on Sunday, July 9, at 6:00 a.m. on the south side of the State Capitol at 15th and H Streets. Participants can caravan or carpool for the 200 mile drive from Lincoln. Bring food or beverages you prefer not to purchase en route, sun protection, insect repellent and binoculars. There is no fee and the public is welcome.
