Warning – Get your passport renewed before the avalanche hits in 2017 –
Millions of new passports were issued in 2008 as new laws required Americans to have passports to travel to Canada, the Caribbean and Mexico. Passports have a 10 year life and many countries will not let you enter if you have less than 6 months left on your passport before it expires.
This means we are expecting a massive wave of people renewing their passports in 2017 and the time it takes to renew is expected to jump from 4-6 weeks up to as much as 10 weeks for passport renewal turnaround. So pull out your passport from the bottom drawer and check to see if it expires in the next 12 months. If it does then you better start moving fast to renew.
