Sunday, Jan 24th 4 pm – Abendmusik at First-Plymouth

The South Dakota Chorale will breathe new life into two lost Masses for choir and organ by composer Marcel Tyberg, who was tragically killed at Auschwitz during the Holocaust.   Artistic Director Brian Schmidt will lead the singers of the Chorale in the premier performances of Tyberg’s Masses as part of concerts in Sioux Falls, SD, Minneapolis, MN and Lincoln, NE. St. Olaf College alum Christopher Jacobson will be the organist for these landmark concerts.

The South Dakota Chorale is a professional chorus based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Founder and Artistic Director Brian A. Schmidt is a Minnesota native and graduate of SDSU who completed Masters and Doctoral studies at the University of North Texas and currently works at Duke University Chapel in Durham, NC. In its six-year history the Chorale has prepared concert programs and masterclasses, performed at a National ACDA Conference, signed an international recording contract and released two professionally-produced recordings on major classical labels to international critical acclaim.
