Downtown Rotary Club raises funds to do good for Lincoln and beyond : The (402)/411.

“Rotary #14 is an amazing organization in this community,” said Lynn Johnson, Lincoln Parks & Recreation director who has worked with the Rotarians on numerous big ticket community projects that have enhanced Lincoln’s quality of life.

Rotary #14 historical records indicate the club not only “conceived the idea of Lincoln General Hospital” but led a public campaign in 1920 to match $100,000 in City of Lincoln funds to build the hospital now known as Bryan West Campus.

The hospital opened its doors in 1925.

Lincoln General Hospital was just the beginning of Rotary’s community philanthropy
