Batik is an ancient art form. It is a complicated process involving molten wax and fabric dyes. Molten wax is used as a resist and the fabric is dipped in a dye bath. After the material has dried and the dyes are fixed, additional wax is used to preserve the color. The piece is dipped again in additional dye baths.
